The Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority will be accepting applications for the  position of RESIDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR (Part time) until filled.  You must submit a S.R.H.A. application to be considered. Resumes may be attached to applications.  We are located at 530 E. Pinner Street-Suffolk, Virginia.  Salary $10.77 - $15.99

General Statement of Duties:

The Resident Services Coordinator performs difficult clerical work assisting the Resident Services Case Manager with a variety of office assistance and administrative tasks.  Does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision.


Essential Job Functions (Illustrative Only):

  1. Receives calls and callers for the department and ascertains nature of business, directs to appropriate authority for disposition.
  2. Maintains complex and detailed files and records.
  3. Designs and prepares newsletter, brochures, flyers and other advertising and marketing materials.
  4. Transcribes correspondence, composes routine correspondence, and types of variety of complex reports and materials.
  5. Maintains calendar.
  6. Schedule Appointments.
  7. Undertakes special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Check for accuracy of important documents and records.
  9. Handling a greater variety of daily matters.
  10. Maintains a variety of operational and program records.
  11. Conducts interviews to determine eligibility for program.
  12. Performs administrative and clerical duties as required.
  13. Operates office equipment.
  14. Uses PC program such as Microsoft Office and other software packages.
  15. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  16. Maintains Resident Services files to include reports or programs offered at the communities.
  17. Maintains contact with Suffolk Public Schools's Assistant Superintendent for yearly Impact AID Program.
  18. Maintains contact with the Downtown Athletic Association for residents that are on the Suffolk Titans and Suffolk Steelers Teams for support.
  19. Coordinates the Service Provider Team Meeting presentations, monthly.
  20. Compiles Resolutions are Cooperative agreements as needed for Service Providers for Public Housing.
  21. Maintains grading period Honor Roll list with Suffolk Public Schools for Public Housing residents.
  22. Coordinates the National Nigh Out Event.
  23. Provides support for grant application materials needed.
  24. Maintains Calendar of Events for programs provided to the Public Housing communities.
  25. Sets up and implements all programs for Public Housing residents in the communities.
  26. Serve as SHRA representative on the National Night Out City committee
  27. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required and extensive office assistance experience.
  2. Working knowledge of the practices, policies and philosophies of housing/maintenance/management.
  3. Basic knowledge of good office procedures.
  4. Clerical and administrative aptitude.
  5. Good spelling and grammar skills.
  6. Ability to type 45 words per minute.
  7. Ability to make routine arithmetical calculations.
  8. Read and interpret computer printouts.
  9. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to exercise good judgment.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  11. Valid driver's license required and must maintain eligibility for coverage under the Authority's automobile insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  1. This is sedentary work requiring exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

  2. Work requires reaching, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions.

  3. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work.
  4. Hearing is required for to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  5. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness or work and observing general surroundings and activities.
  6. The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

  1. Valid driver’s license required and must maintain eligibility for coverage under the Authority’s automobile insurance.

  2. Must pass a drug screen.

  3. Must supply a criminal background record.
